1. Barot 



Barot, at an elevation of 1835 meters, is a lovely spot on the Uhl River's bank. It is well-known for its trout fishery. Fisheries department manages it, and an annual Angling Meet is held there. The reservoir of the british-built Shanan power facility is located here, adding to the scenic charm of Barot.


Barot is also the entry point of the Nagru Wilfdlife Sanctuary, which covers an area of 278 square kilometers. Monal, Wild Cates, Monkeys and the Black bears have all  made their homes here. 


Barot also serves as a starting point of treks into Kullu and Kangra valleys. Producing veggies and pulses is very popular in this area. It is surrounded by magnificent scenery that draws people in.Every year, tens of thousands of tourists go to this site.

By Air:      The nearest airport is located approximately 114 kilometers away in Gaggal, district Kangra, HP, while another is located approximately 123 kilometers away in Bhuntar, District Kullu,HP.

By Train:   The nearest rail link is the Narrow Gauge line in Joginder Nagar, which is roughly 40 kilometers away.

By Road:    Barot is accesible by road from Ghatasani on Pathankot - mandi national Highway.

2. Rewalsar



Scenic view


Rewalsar is a sacred site for Hindus, Sikhs and Buddhists alike. The floating reed islands and fish of Rewalsar's natural lake are well known. Along the lake's periphery, Hindu, Buddhists, And Sikhs Shrines can be found. According to legend, Padmasambhava, the renowed teacher and scholar, used his immense owers to fly from Rewalsar to Tibet. The energy of Padmasambhava is said to be embodied in little islands of floating reed in Rewalsar lake. 

There is also a large statue of Padmsambhava.



Sage Lomas is said to have undertaken his penance here in order to satisfy Lord Shiva. Gurudwara Shri Rewalsar Sahib is associated with Guru Govind Singh ji, the tenth Guru, who called on Pahari Rajas to band together in his fight against the Mughals. On Baisakhi, people of all faiths flock to Rewalsar for Holy bath.

Rewalsar is home to three Buddhist monastries. It features a Gurudwar, which was erected in 1930 by Mandi's Raja Joginder Sen. Along the lake's edge are Hindu temples devoted to Lord Krishna, Lord Shiva and Guru Lomas.




Naina Devi ji Temple:   A temple dedicated to naina mata may be found on a hilltop 10 kilometers from Rewalsar. It is said that Sati's eye dropeed on the spot, and shrine dedicated to Naina Devi was established there. Throughout the year, devotees from all across the state flock to the temple. It is bordered  by pine trees and offers a panoramic view of the Balh and Sarkaghat valleys. Trekking tp this location from Rewalsar is also popular.On our way to Naina devi temple, we pass by Kunt bhayao, which is named after Kunti, the Pandva's mother. Arjun is claimed to have built the lake to relieve his mother thirst. In this area, there are six other legendary lakes known as "Sar". During the rainy season, the majority of the water in these lakes is collected.

By Air:      The nearest airport is located in Bhuntar, District kullu, and is around 84 kilometeres away.

By Train:  The nearest rail link is the Narrow Gauge line in Joginder Nagar, which is roughly 78 kilometers away.

By Road:    Rewalsar is around a 24 kilometer drive from district headquarters in Mandi.
 

3.       Prashar Lake            

Located at an altitude of 2730 meters.

Beautiful peaks surround the scenic site,adding to its beauty. The lake is said to have developed as a result of Rishi Prashar striking the rod (Guri), which caused water to spill out and take shape of the lake. Along the lake is an ancient Pagoda-style temple dedicated to Rishi Prashar, the patron God of Mandi region. The temple was built in 13-14 century by the King Ban Sen, with Rishi present in the shape of a Pindi(Stone).                                                                                                                                                                                         

It is also reported that a single deodar tree was used to create the entire temple, which took 12 years to finish. A walk around the lake provides a wonderful impression of the surrounding's tranquilly. A trip to Prashar combines a spiritual journey with a tour of the tranquil and picturesque Himalayan mountain.

By Train:  The nearest rail link is the narrow Gauge line in Joginder Nagar, which is about 88 kilometers away.

By Road: The Prashar is around 50 kilometers from the district headquarters in Mandi

4.Kamrunag  lake

Kamrunag  at a height of 3,334 meters

According to legends, Kamrunag is Mahabharta's King Yaksha, and the Pandvas worshipped him. Devotees have a practise of throwing gold, silver and money into the lake when Dev Kamrunag grants their desires. It is said that , it is impossible to estimate the amount of gold, silver and other metal coins buried below the lake's bottom. A trip to Kamrunag is a trip to paradise for nature enthusiasts. On foot, the journey from Rohanda to Kamrunag takes 3 to 4 hours via a difficult mountain path of around 6 kilometers.

The beauty in between is the nicest part of the Kamrunag hike. To be honest, it's mind blowing. This is the fourth time i've been there. This is really a fantastic location for nature lovers.

Note: It can be exceedingly dangerous in the winter, so  go in June or July.

By Train:  The nearest rail link is the narrow Gauge line in Joginder Nagar, which is about 101 kilometers away.

By Road: The road to Kamrunag lake runs 35 kilometers from Sunder Nagar to Rohanda and then 6 kilometers from Rohanda to Kamrunag. Mandi to Rohanda is 47 kilometers away if coming from Mandi side.





5. Shikari Devi

 Situated at an altitude of 3359 meters.

On the way to Shikari Devi, the  beautiful thick trees are breathtaking. It is also known as the "Crown of Mandi" since it is the tallest peak in Mandi district.Nature lovers will enjoy the vast green fields, beautiful dawn and sunset, and panoramic view of the snow ranges. During the winter, the area gets a lot of snow.There is a roofless temple dedicated to Shikari Devi, the goddess of Hunters, On the Shikari peak, which is supposed to have been built by Pandvas. Sage Markanday is claimed to have meditated for many years at this location.

By Train:  The nearest rail link is the narrow Gauge line in Joginder Nagar, which is about 152 kilometers away.

By Road: On the Chandigarh- Manali National Highway, the janjehli  is reachable by road from Nerchowk.

6. Devidarh

With beautiful green fields, meadows, and a deep deodar forest, the area exudes breathtaking natural beauty. the last village in the Jiuni valley, it is located at an elevation of 7800 feet. Mata Mundsan Temple is located here. The walk route janjhali-Shikari devi-Devidarh- Kamrunag passes via Devidarh. Tourists can stay at Devidarh's forest house.
